After Udo Jürgens won the Eurovision Song Contest 1966 in Luxembourg with the song called Merci Chérie , Eurovision Song Contest 1967 took place in Vienna, Austria . This was the first time Austria hosted the competition. Total of 17 countries participated. The winner of the competition was Sandie Shaw from United Kingdom with the song called Puppet On A String. The song gained total of 47 points. This was the first Eurovision Song Contest victory to United Kingdom.
