After Secret Garden won the Eurovision Song Contest 1995 in Ireland with the song called Nocturne , Eurovision Song Contest 1996 took place in Oslo, Norway . This was the second time Norway hosted the competition. Total of 23 countries participated. The winner of the competition was Eimear Quinn from Ireland with the song called The Voice. The song gained total of 162 points. This was the seventh Eurovision Song Contest victory to Ireland.
