After Massiel won the Eurovision Song Contest 1968 in United Kingdom with the song called La, La, La... , Eurovision Song Contest 1969 took place in Madrid, Spain . This was the first time Spain hosted the competition. Total of 16 countries participated. The winner of the competition was Frida Boccara from France with the song called Un Jour, Un Enfant. The song gained total of 18 points. This was the fourth Eurovision Song Contest victory to France.
