After France Gall won the Eurovision Song Contest 1965 in Italy with the song called Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son , Eurovision Song Contest 1966 took place in Luxembourg, Luxembourg . This was the second time Luxembourg hosted the competition. Total of 18 countries participated. The winner of the competition was Udo Jürgens from Austria with the song called Merci Chérie. The song gained total of 31 points. This was the first Eurovision Song Contest victory to Austria.
