After Céline Dion won the Eurovision Song Contest 1988 in Ireland with the song called Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi , Eurovision Song Contest 1989 took place in Lausanne, Switzerland . This was the second time Switzerland hosted the competition. Total of 22 countries participated. The winner of the competition was Riva from Yugoslavia with the song called Rock Me. The song gained total of 137 points. This was the first Eurovision Song Contest victory to Yugoslavia.
