Eurovision Song Contest Ukraine 2017

When Jamala won the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Sweden with the song called 1944, Eurovision Song Contest 2017 took place in Kiev, Ukraine. This was the second time Ukraine hosted the competition. Total of 42 countries participated after the Russian representative was banned from entering Ukraine by Ukrainian law. The first Semi-Final was held on May 9th and the second Semi-Final was held on May 11th. The winner was selected at the Grand Final on May 13th. The winner of the competition was Salvador Sobral from Portugal with a song called Amar Pelos Dois. The song gained a total of 758 points which was the highest score so far in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. This was the first Eurovision Song Contest victory for Portugal in 53 years of participation.

During the interval of the Grand Final in the middle of Jamala’s performance, an Ukrainian man climbed to the stage wearing the Australian flag and lowered his pants and showed his behind to the audience in front of Jamala. Jamala continued her performance while the security removed the stage invader.
