After Dana International won the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 in United Kingdom with the song called Diva , Eurovision Song Contest 1999 took place in Jerusalem, Israel . This was the second time Israel hosted the competition. Total of 23 countries participated. The winner of the competition was Charlotte Nilsson from Sweden with the song called Take Me To Your Heaven. The song gained total of 163 points. This was the fourth Eurovision Song Contest victory to Sweden.
