After Izhar Cohen and the Alphabeta won the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 in France with the song called Abanibi , Eurovision Song Contest 1979 took place in Jerusalem, Israel . This was the first time Israel hosted the competition. Total of 19 countries participated. The winner of the competition was Milk and Honey from Israel with the song called Hallelujah. The song gained total of 125 points. This was the second Eurovision Song Contest victory to Israel.
