Eurovision Song Contest Denmark 2014

When Emmelie de Forest won the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Sweden with the song called Only Teardrops, Eurovision Song Contest 2014 took place in Copenhagen, Denmark. This was the third time Denmark hosted the competition. Total of 37 countries participated. The first Semi-Final was held on May 6th and the second Semi-Final was held on May 8th. The winner was selected at the Grand Final on May 10th. The winner of the competition was Conchita Wurst from Austria with the song called Rise Like a Phoenix. The song gained a total of 290 points. This was the second Eurovision Song Contest victory for Austria.

Georgia’s jury points were all declared invalid in the Grand Final as the jury members had voted exactly the same from 3 points to 12 points and the televoting results were used instead.

As the last Austria had to wait 48 years to get their second victory, this was also the first year when San Marino and Montenegro qualified for the final.
