After Sandra Kim won the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 in Norway with the song called J'aime La Vie , Eurovision Song Contest 1987 took place in Brussels, Belgium . This was the first time Belgium hosted the competition. Total of 22 countries participated. The winner of the competition was Johnny Logan from Ireland with the song called Hold Me Now. The song gained total of 172 points. This was the third Eurovision Song Contest victory to Ireland.
