After Anne-Marie David won the Eurovision Song Contest 1973 in Luxembourg with the song called Tu Te Reconnaîtras , Eurovision Song Contest 1974 took place in Brighton, United Kingdom . This was the fifth time United Kingdom hosted the competition. Total of 17 countries participated. The winner of the competition was ABBA from Sweden with the song called Waterloo. The song gained total of 24 points. This was the first Eurovision Song Contest victory to Sweden.
